These descriptions are for the new schedule, effective October 5th, 2009.
The Beginners class is designed for those who have no muay thai experience. In this class you will learn the basic stance, movement, punches and kicks that form the foundation of muay thai. This class will be 90 minutes long.
Though class structure will vary from instructor to instructor, the basic format of the beginner’s class is as follows:
The Advanced class is for students who have trained for a sufficient amount of time and have mastered more than just the basic Muay Thai skills. Students wishing to join this class should consult the head instructor to determine if they are ready.
This class will teach advanced techniques, including clinching and more complicated combinations that include knees and elbows.
The Technical Sparring class introduces students to techniques used in the ring. More advanced techniques are introduced, including the Muay Thai clinch.
Most sparring will be done at a light to moderate level to ensure safety. The goal for the sparring class is to realistically learn ring fighting and gain confidence in your abilities, all in a safe environment.
Equipment required:All Levels classes are designed for any student who wishes to improve their Muay Thai skills and fitness. Each class will be adjusted according to attendance, but focus will generally be on plyometrics, drills and conditioning. No matter what your training level, you will be able to get a good workout and still learn valuable technique.
The Extreme Bootcamp class is for students who are looking to challenge themselves physically with an intense conditioning and cardio kickboxing workout.
Students are encouraged to train in a Beginners class until they feel confident with the technique and their fitness level, as this is a physically demanding workout.
